07-Feb-2012 | Business Events Tasmania CEO Stuart Nettlefold has been appointed to the State Government taskforce to address the constraints on access to Tasmania.

Other participants invited to contribute to the group include the CEOs of the Tourism Industry Council, the Tasmanian Hospitality Association and the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The group will also include representatives from the Department of Economic Development, Tourism Tasmania and the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.

The working group will provide information to assist government build well-informed business cases to lobby airlines for further commitments to Tasmania.

Business events in Tasmania deliver extremely good outcomes for the Tasmanian economy - over $100 million annually. Our recent Delegate Survey has revealed that delegates are staying longer and spending more in Tasmania. However, having sufficient seat availability and flights is crucial to our potential clients. Business Events Tasmania will make a significant contribution to the business cases prepared for government.
